By joining forces with other major national and foreign research structures but also to industrial and technological actorson CEREGE is now a centre of excellence in its field (HCERES assessment 2023). Since its creation, it has maintained an essential balance between research and societal issues around themes such as geosciences, sustainable development, natural and man-made hazards, climate, current environments, processes of formation and deformation of the earth's surface under natural conditions and under anthropogenic stress.

This multidisciplinarity is a remarkable fact in the French research landscape.

Today, the CEREGE is organised around four Thematic Teams: Climate, Earth & Planets, Sustainable Environment and Resources, Hydrosystems and Carbonates.

Research at CEREGE also includes cross-cutting themes CEREGE to develop original approaches to research and expertise, to make existing projects collaborative and to submit new projects.
