CEREGE Doctoral Students' Committee

To ensure successful completion of the thesisa doctoral student is accompanied by his or her supervisor, but also by the teams and all the staff of the host laboratory, whether from a scientific, administrative or technical point of view.

With this in mind, a committee, managed entirely by the doctoral students, was set up by the CEREGE management in 2018 the CEREGE Doctoral Students' Committee (CDC).

It allows you tosupport doctoral students throughout their time at CEREGE by facilitating their integration and interaction with their work team, management, other doctoral students, bodies or projects (internal or external to CEREGE) that directly concern them, and the world of science in general.

While a good integration plays an essential role in the progress of a thesis, difficulties may nevertheless arise during the course of the work within the laboratory, whether professional, relational or personal, which may affect the progress of the project.

It is therefore important for doctoral students to have a a place of trust, sharing and support all along the way to make the experience as beneficial as possible.

A Charter has been established to define the role and precise obligations of this committee.

Doctoral Students' Committee events

  • Welcome day for new doctoral students
This event contributes to the welcome and integration of doctoral students into the CEREGE and their working environment. The aim of this meeting is to introduce new doctoral students to the CEREGE, its laboratories, the way it works and the various people involved, in order to facilitate their integration into daily life at the CEREGE. This informative event is an important step and attendance is compulsory. The programme for this half-day event includes a word from the Director, a presentation of the CEREGE, a presentation of the Doctoral Students' Committee and the ACET, and a "tour de table" for new arrivals. (brief presentation: Name, thesis subject, supervisor, team, office number, etc.)).

  • Doctoral Students' Day
This event helps to develop professional links between doctoral students and permanent staff at CEREGE. The aim of this meeting is to introduce new doctoral students to all members of the laboratory (permanent staff, post-doctoral students, doctoral students, etc.) through oral presentations lasting a few minutes, followed by a few minutes of questions, during which the doctoral students present their thesis topic. This half-day event provides an opportunity to get to know the new arrivals and to open up discussions within the same team, but also with other teams, in order to highlight the possibilities for collaboration and to appreciate the diversity of the laboratory's research topics. There will be a short coffee break during the presentations, and the ACET afterwork will bring the event to a close.

  • PhD Students' Week
This event helps to develop professional links between doctoral students and permanent staff at CEREGE. The aim of this meeting is to present the work of doctoral students at all levels to all members of the laboratory (permanent staff, post-doctoral students, doctoral students, etc.) through poster presentations. On the first day of this special week, a two-hour meeting is organised during which the doctoral students present their posters to groups of laboratory members. For the rest of the week, the posters remain on display in the main hall of CEREGE, allowing latecomers or anyone else wishing to linger over them to spend a few minutes and engage in a discussion with the doctoral students if they are intrigued by the subject or wish to offer advice.

  • Seminars
Seminars on a variety of subjects are organised by the committee to help develop links between doctoral students and the world of research and prepare them for their future after their thesis.

  • CDC news
A simplified report is made public to provide information on the latest events taking place in the committee or laboratory via the green cell, the communication cell or the various councils (laboratory, OSU, OSU scientists, EDs).
Its members

Renewed every year, the CEREGE Doctoral Students' Committee is made up of 11 roles held by 11 doctoral students.

The Ceregian Association of Postgraduate Students of CEREGE doctoral students (ACET) aims to create links between members of the laboratory in a less professional setting. After-work parties are organised every week, as well as events such as an induction day, tombolas, an Easter egg hunt, an advent calendar, etc.
